Highlights from 2021
Philanthropy hit an all-time high at South Dakota State University in 2021.
With record-setting gifts and commitments totaling $121.6 million and an endowment that grew to $225 million, the SDSU Foundation’s year was historic.
Traces of that success and momentum go back to the mid-1990s as the university’s culture of giving began. It grew through two comprehensive campaigns, and has led to new, modern facilities, increases in scholarships, and unprecedented investments in endowed faculty positions. It has also provided resources for new innovation and programs, including precision agriculture and architecture.
That momentum and the proven commitment to philanthropy paved the way for the public launch this fall of Bold & Blue: The Campaign for South Dakota State University. The university’s third comprehensive campaign in history was announced on October 21, as leaders unveiled a goal to raise $500 million.
As the afternoon announcement in Club 71 of Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium transitioned to an evening celebration by the Campanile and on the Alumni Green, it was a moment of both history in the making and a glimpse into the ambitious future ahead for SDSU.
This STATELY Review strives to capture the enormous groundswell of philanthropic spirit that exists at South Dakota State.
We are beyond grateful for the impact made by individuals, families, private foundations and businesses that choose to invest in our university. Thank you!
